Happy New Year...

My name is Vonna and I blog over at The Twisted Stitcher .

I have been following this "2012 Year of Smalls Blog" since its inception and thought I'd give this first "assignment" a go.

Happily I finished stitching these in the last three days and finished them last night. Maybe it might inspire some of you to do some over one stitching...as this really turned out gorgeous. I'm tickled pink over it.

I kept thinking that the urn of poinsettias would be gorgeous as an oval ornament so I stitched one for each of my daughters:

Poinsettia House by Little House Needleworks 

 JANUARY 2012 SMALL

Here is the first project for the year of smalls!!!  How exciting!  This is a great project for this time of year as it is such a lovely Christmas stitch!

This lovely design was selected by Linda M. who lives in Morris, IL.  She has been an avid stitcher for many years and I will ask her to chime in with some thoughts during this month.   We are announcing each month's small on the 15th day of the month before that small goes "live" so that you can gather your supplies and be stitching during the month in which that small is the selection.  

I was worried that this was a bit of a large small, but you could always just stitch the poinsettia and that would be a lovely ornament.  

As a gentle reminder, the Inspired Needle has this design all kitted up for you (very cutely, I might add!!).  You will receive the chart, fabric and the called for floss all for $30.00.

Well, away we go!!  This is so exciting and now we will all have something to look forward to on the 15th day of each month.  A surprise every month!!!

Ready to Go!

     I am so ready to go with some smalls.  I was so excited this morning thinking it was the 15th., and I would be happily stitching away this afternoon on some new little piece! Wrong.....
     Another neat thing about smalls, is that if you get a little bored with something big that you've been working on, a small will get you away for a few hours.  I say hours rather than days as I keep my hours totaled on every piece that I do.  Starting something new is so refreshing, and being a smaller piece, you won't be away from your bigger projects for long.

Worried

I am worried.  I am worried that some of the choices of the projects we picked might not be small enough.....I just want everyone to know that you do not have to do any of the projects that we chose; of course, that goes without saying, but I just wanted to say that anyway.   

You know what might be a cool idea???  While there will be the "official" small project each month, we should also post pictures of other smalls you are working on or want to work on!  That way we will have tons of ideas and eye candy.   How does that sound??

A Feel Good Idea

     You know that feeling you get when you have just put in that very last stitch on your piece? You have been working for weeks, months or in some cases, years on it and now you have just completed it.  Come on now.....You know the feeling.....I've heard that some people even do a little happy dancing!
     That feeling is only one reason that I'm joining up here to work on some smalls.  I'm very excited about getting started.  This coming year will be the year that I'll be doing that happy dance very often.  I'm looking forward to watching the progress on several smaller pieces.
     Get your needles and hoops ready ladies and come join the fun.

Blog Settings

I am setting up the blog so that if you like, you can add pictures or blog entries when the spirit moves you.  To do that I need your email address so that I can send an invitation.  I have not done this before so I am rusty on the particulars, but it looks like I add you and you can access the inner workings of this blog.  I also have it set so that anyone can comment on any of the posts even if they are not a "member" of the blog.  If you see anything wrong with my thoughts or methods, please let me know.  Thanks!!!!!! 

To Clarify...

Just wanted to clarify.....there is no obligation to stitch all of the small projects....only the ones that call to you!  There may be a month where you do not care for the choice and there is no reason to stitch something you don't love!  

This is not an automatic that you will be signing up for.  If you like a project and you would like to buy the supplies from Inspired Needle that is fine!  The entire kit or just the chart or just the threads or just the fabric will be available at Inspired Needle.  You can order anything anytime that you need something.  You might have the project already in your stash and then, bonus!, you can stitch something from your stash.  

This is a no stress type of event.  Just stitch what you love and love what you stitch!!! 

Countdown is on!

Just hanging around waiting for December 15th.  That is when the small project for January 2012 will be announced!  How exciting!
