I finished the stitching on Poinsettia House last night. Am I the last one to finish?
I won't be doing the February project, since I'll be working on a Stitcherama project in February, but I may pull out one of my small WIPs if I need a small fix during the month. Happy stitching, everyone. I look forward to seeing your February finishes.

Poinsettia House Finish!
I finished my first small. Pointsettia House by LHN. I stitched it on 40ct natural raw linen with the recommended threads. I also received my Garden of Love kit from Cathy and loved how she packaged it so beautifully. Off to start small #2, Happy Stitching!

A 'small' finish...........
I finished my Quaker Hornbook last night - yippee! The finishing was easy. I probably will never really use this but display it with my other smalls.
I also started our February project "Garden of Love" but haven't gotten much done yet to take a photo. One word of caution for those of you using the charted Belle Soie silks. The raspberry thread is a really vibrant color. I noticed a little bit of pink on the linen threads surrounding where I was stitching. I decided to soak the Raspberry thread for a few minutes in cold water in case it needed more rinsing of the dye. Only a very tiny bit of pink came out in the water, so it could be just the friction of pulling the thread through the linen. (I'm using 40-ct). I would just take extra care with your counting when stitching with it - if you have to frog a lot you might see some light pink coloration on your fabric where your stitches were.

Silk Thread
I have never stitched with silk thread before and I am loving it. I hope this doesn't mean I will have to start collecting silk threads. :)

Kits Received
I too received my order from Inspired Needle today and in addition to the beautiful packaging I received such quick service. I believe I placed my order Tuesday evening and it was in my mailbox today. I am going to start one of the smalls in the morning. Can't decide which one I want to do first. Happy stitching everyone.

January Small complete
Here is my framed Poinsettia House:
It was a lot of stitching for a small but I LOVE the way it turned out.
Thanks Laura for hosting the Year of the Smalls. I've got my supplies all ready and hope to begin February very soon. The silks are just yummy:))

February Small
The next small is Garden of Love by Citrouille's Designs. This breathtaking beauty was selected by Barb. What amazingly gorgeous colors! We thought this would be a good stitch to do around Valentine's Day.
The chart calls for 32 count Vintage Meadow Rue which is currently unavailable at Inspired Needle. However, Cathy has come up with some gorgeous substitutes, which you may see below.
THE STITCH COUNT IS 79 X 79.
THE STITCH COUNT IS 79 X 79.
The called for flosses are by Crescent Colors Belle Soie. They are Beanstalk, Chocolate, Empress, Fresh Raspberries and Vanilla. If you like, Cathy is putting together one yard of each thread color and for $7.50 you can purchase a thread pack. That makes stitching with the silks on this project very affordable.
The second fabric choice is 36 count Mocha. So, if you would like the 36 count Mocha, the chart and the thread pack the price would be $25.00. Please note the different between the two choices (as the fabric cost is different)
Below is Barb's perfectly stitched Garden of Love. I know that since I took this picture she had this framed. I will try to get a picture of that for you all during this month.
If you would like to order from Inspired Needle.....please click HERE. Don't forget that there will be tax and shipping costs, but still I think that is an awesome deal!!!!
Kellie's Finish
I put the last stitches in earlier this week.
Here's my version of Poinsettia House. I chose to personalize this with our last name instead of "poinsettia." I stitched mine on 40 count Lakeside Linen Navy Bean in the recommended threads with one thread over two fabric threads. I'm not sure if I am going to frame this or make it into a pinkeep.
Thanks for hosting this, Laura. I am looking forward to the next project announcement (and crossing my fingers it might be a day early like last month. :) ).

Laura Finished a Small!
I finished a small! It is not the small from January; but you gotta take what you can get right? This is called Vintage Pincushion and is from the BBD Joyeux Noel book. I used some Peacock Belle Soie silk that I was given at a BBD retreat I was lucky enough to attend.
Another Quaker Hornbook
No progress on the January Year of the Small, but you all are motivating me to keep pushing with my WIP smalls. As Jeanne and Melody have commented, they are both working on Quaker Hornbook by Ellen Chester of With My Needle. Here is my version. My EGA chapter did this as a group project a few years ago and sadly, I never got around to starting it. I have, however, made some progress this year and I am loving it! I did get sidetracked by working on a few ornaments, but I promise to get back to the hornbook soon.
Worked on 32 count linen with a Gentle Art Sampler Thread, the name of which I can't remember! Will check when I get home! **The color is Sable

Hello everybody!
I just joined up this weekend and see lots of familiar 'faces' here. I haven't gotten the Pointsettia House pattern or supplies yet so I'll be playing catch-up on that one but anxiously looking forward to joining in with the February project.
It's great seeing all the stitching energy flowing as people start new projects, pull out old UFO's and WIP's, and make lots of new plans for 2012. I hope we all have 12 finished smalls to show by the end of this year. I'm determined to also fit in some smalls I've had kitted up for a long time. I started Quaker Hornbook by With My Needle earlier this week. It's been sitting in my stash for probably 5 years - yikes! It's stitched over-1 on 32-ct linen with a Dinky Dyes silk. I hope to get it done this month.

True Confession
You are not going to believe this! Oh wait, yes you will! You are fellow stitchers and understand the craziness!!!
Here is my Poinsettia House project. I have not started it yet! I can't bear to "un-kit" it!!!!!
I could just as well put it in a shadow box frame as is and stare at it on the wall and be happy!
From now on I am going to have to buy the chart, fabric and fibers separately because Cathy does such a fabulous job of kitting that I can't bear to stitch the project!
I am contemplating taking it apart while watching TV tonight, but my friend Barb said to never start a new project after 9 p.m. She is one of my main stitching gurus so I think I better take her advice!

So disappointed
I went to my LNS today to purchase the Poinsetta House pattern with hopes of stitching this week-end. Howver, she had sold all of her copies. So I think my plan is to wait until the next project is announced and order them both at the same time. My LNS is about 40 minutes away and I don't get the chance to get over there very often. So I will pull a project from my stash and stitch on that this week-end.

Just a Reminder
Just wanted to pop in to say that you don't have to finish any of the smalls within a month......just stitch at your own pace and have fun!!!
You can stitch all or just a few of the smalls that are selected.
This is a no pressure, just for fun blog!
I am so happy that you all are here!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR OF SMALLS!
hello friends - I see some familiar faces here.
I found this blog thru Laura and thought it was great to have something small to work on this year in between the huge Ann Dale that our sampler guild is doing as an SAL.
I ordered from Cathy at Inspired Needle and she was ever so helpful as always. She was out of the 36ct linen in the color called for so I changed my color to Days Gone By so it will be a bit different. Doubt I will be able to finish by the 15th but we'll see.
OMGOSH - Vonna did it again with her absolutely gorgeous finishing and over one stitching - she truly did make it "a small". Love your creativity Vonna, YGG and the girls ornaments are lovely as well.
I think it will be great fun to participate in this blog and get to know some you better and meet some new friends too.
if you don't already "follow" my blog - please check in on it when you can.
Happy Stitching Smalls in 2012 !

Hi, Stitching Friends
Hi, stitching lovers. I just found this group this morning and am excited to join. I was in a flurry to be able to start Poinsettia House - I know I have it in my stash somewhere - but then when I read further down the blog and saw that the new design would be announced on the 15th, I decided to wait for that. I love the Poinsettia House, but I know I don't have all the CC's for it, and since I am a very slow stitcher and have other things going, I decided to wait in anticipation of what will be announced next.
I look forward to watching your progress and different finishing ideas. Thanks for letting me be a part of this group.

introduction
I have been a lurker of so many blogs over the past year and when I discovered the 2012 Year of the Smalls stitch along I decided I would have to create my own blog so that I could participate in this project. I am going to my LNS on Friday to purchase the pattern and threads. I will post a picture when I get mine finished.
I love the way Vonna finished hers...but then I have yet to see anything that Vonna does that I don't like. Her blog is one I frequent very often.

Hello & Happy New Year!!
When I saw Vonna's finish, I was hooked! I will probably copy the ornie idea for my girls...hope you don't mind! Not to mention this month's challenge is in my 2012 Basket of To Do's. What better way to get motivated and start the year off?! Thank you Laura for allowing me to join. I ordered a couple of the floss colors and they should be here by the end of the week.
